Tempered glass
Tempered glass may be used in both small (e.g., furniture parts, lighting elements) and large structures (e.g., partition walls, roofs, doors, railings, frameless facades).
Glazing structures are made of tempered glass.
Tempered glass is manufactured by heating annealed glass to a temperature of 650-700 ºC and then cooling rapidly with cold air drafts from both sides. In this way, the glass becomes four to five times stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness and processing. When tempered glass is broken, it shatters into countless tiny rounded chunks, which minimises the risk of injury.
Any work with such glass – cutting, polishing of edges, drilling holes, etc. – must be done before tempering. Tempered glass cannot be further worked on.
Thickness that can be produced: 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 and 19 mm.
All types of glass can be tempered, with the exception of reinforced glass, decorative embossed glass, laminated glass and glass with soft coating. If there is a need for tempered glass with soft coating, the glass is tempered first and only then the soft coating is applied. Only the glass manufacturer can do this.
Two companies – Transparence SIA and Glaskon SIA, which are among the largest glass processing factories in Latvia – supply tempered glass to ALUX STIKLOJUMI SIA.
Structures from tempered glass are made on individual order, making the necessary calculations and drawings, as well as agreeing on the furniture with the client. ALUX STIKLOJUMI SIA fits the structures from tempered glass with furniture supplied by German companies Dorma Group, Gretsch-Unitas GmbH, Baubeschlage GmbH, Latvian company VBH Latvia SIA, Italian company Nuova Oxidal SRL and Lithuanian company Arginta Group. Furniture from any other manufacturer may be used if the client wishes so.
